Fresh, Local, Certified Organic Apples!
Remember the wonderful From Oyler’s Organic
Cider we deliver every fall? This year we’re partnering with the Oyler’s for certified organic apples too! These Pennsylvania apples are rare because certified organic apples are difficult to grow in the eastern part of the U.S. The apples have character and are not perfect like chemically sprayed apples, but, as you know from the cider, their flavor is superb! All of these apples are excellent for fresh eating and for cooking. The variety of apples will vary as the Oyler family harvests multiple varieties throughout the season.IMPORTANT NOTICE: Oyler's Organic apples and cider are in very short supply this year.
We are very sorry about the short notice. We only found out today (10/19) of the unexpected shortage. Because of the frost this spring and the hot dry summer, the crop was somewhat smaller. But the clincher on the shortage came a couple weeks ago when the winds from Hurricane Matthew came through and knocked a lot of them to the ground. Please check out this link
for Oyler's explanation of the shortage.

From Oyler's Organic Farm
All of our organic apple products come from Oylers Organic Farm. Here is a little more about the family:
Oyler's Organic Farms is our family farm consisting of husband and wife team Bill and Mary Ann Oyler and their children: Sara (25), Jacob (23), and Katrina (20).
Bill is the fifth generation to farm the same land. He is truly a farmer at heart and has farmed his entire life. He is a graduate of Gettysburg College in Business Administration. Bill is constantly reading a book, magazine, newspaper, or searching the internet for new ideas to incorporate into the farm.
Mary Ann grew up on a dairy farm in New Oxford and immigrated into the fruit industry upon marrying Bill in 1984. She is a Family and Consumer Sciences graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Mary Ann enjoys cooking and preserving food.
Sara returned to the farm full-time in May 2009 after graduating from Penn State with a degree in Agroecology and minors in Horticulture and Agronomy. She enjoys gardening as well as monitoring the beneficial and pest insects in the orchard. Sara is married to Bruce Baldwin.
Jacob returned to the farm full-time in January of 2009. He is an asset to the farm and helps with many of the farming operations. He enjoys hunting and working on equipment. Jacob is married to Liz Chronister.
Katrina is currently attending college and helping on the farm as her schedule permits. She loves to cook.
We press cider every week with a mix of multiple apple varieties to obtain a tasty cider. Our cider is certified organic and the only ingredients are certified organic apples! We do not add preservatives to our cider. Our cider has a shelf life of 2 weeks. It is run through a UV light but is not heated/pasteurized.
Fresh cider pressing season usually begins around September and runs till possibly Christmas. But after that we usually have frozen cider most of the year. It makes great cider slushies' during the summer!
